The German automobile manufacturer Audi will be launching the all-new Audi RS 5 coupe in India on April 11. It is the fourth and most expensive member of the A5 family which feature Audi Sport’s aggressive new design language for the first time. The second generation RS 5 is based on a new platform features new bumpers, a more outstanding ‘single frame’ grille, ‘quattro blisters’ that highlight the beefier wheel arches, 19-inch wheels, Matrix LED headlights and added air intakes.
In addition, while the optional carbon-fiber roof is equipped, the new RS 5 is 60 kg less than its forerunner. The interior of RS 5 is featured with sport seating with RS embossed into the honeycomb-pattern leather, a bespoke flat-bottomed steering wheel wrapped in perforated leather, carbon fiber trim, simulated suede door panel inserts, and stainless steel pedal covers. The new RS 5 foregoes the 4.2-liter V8 engine which was used in previous models. The RS 5 gets 2.9-liter, turbocharged V6 engine which produces 450PS of power and 600Nm of torque.
The V6 engine gives the same power delivery of V8 engine and is paired with the eight-speed automatic transmission. The RS 5 gets Audi’s well known quattro all-wheel drive system which push the power to all four wheels with a self-locking center differential and a sport rear differential. Audi claims the new RS5 Coupe will complete 0-100kph in only 3.9 seconds which is half a second faster than the car it replaces and equalling the first R8 V10’s chance. Top speed is constrained to 250kph however ticking the ‘dynamic pack’ alternative will give it a chance to keep running up to 280kph. In India, Audi RS 5 will most likely come via the CBU route and expected to get at price of Rs 1.2 crore. The RS 5 face competition from BMW M4.
