Hero Moto Corp has returned to the entry-level category of performance bike with new Extreme 200R. The new Extreme 200R replace the previous generation 150cc Extreme. The dealership has been started the booking for Extreme 200R by collecting an amount of Rs. 1000 to 5000. The Extreme 200R was first showcased at the 2016 edition of the Auto Expo as a concept and has been one of the most anticipated motorcycles since. Hero Extreme 200R is powered by a 200 cc, single cylinder engine, which produces a maximum power of 18.1 bhp at 8500 rpm and a peak torque of 17.1 Nm at 6500 rpm.
In addition, the bike gets a balancer shaft, which keeps vibration to a minimum. The Hero says that the engine is designed to be pulled out from the low-end torque, which would make it easier to ride in heavy traffic. The bike has a claimed top speed of 112 kmph and it takes 4.6 seconds to reach 60 kmph from 0. The Extreme 200R has featured with simplified analogue digital speedometer, a LED positioning light and an LED tail light. The suspension duties are handled by 37 mm telescopic front fork and an 8-step adjustable monoshock at the rear. Along with the radial tyres, both the front and rear are equipped with disc brakes.
The single-channel ABS feature is available as an option. The Extreme 200R engine is developed by the Center for Innovation and Technology (CIT) in Jaipur. Hero Motocorp claims that he has made an intentional attempt to improve the quality of the engine. In the Indian market, TVS ‘Apache RTR 200’, Bajaj ‘Pulsar NS 200’ and ‘KTM’ 200 Dukes will be competing with Extreme 200R. The Hero Xtreme 200R is available in five colour variants and it is expected to be priced from Rs. 80,000 to Rs. 85,000.
