Last year when Volkswagen’s Taigun was unveiled at the Sau Paulo Motor Show,they had no plans on launching the model in India.But seeing the impressions given for the Duster,Volkswagen is now planning to bring their model in Indian roads. Taigun is a compact SUV based on the same platform of Volkswagen Up.It is 0.13 meters shorter than the Indian Ford EcoSport i.e it just measures about 3.86 meters.Indian Taigun will have a sub 4-meter excise duties.When look at the width and wheelbase of the car,it is 1.86 meters wide and has a wheelbase of 2.47 meters.
Taigun is powered by 1.0L 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol motor that produces 110PS of peak power and 175Nm of maximum torque and is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox.It can reach 100 kmph in only 9.2 seconds with a top speed of a 185 kmph.But it has a fuel efficiency of 21kmpl which is the highest of same segment SUV’s. It has only a small boot space of 280 liter but by pushing the seats down we can extend it to 987 liters.
